1002 – Habanera

Carmen: an opera in 4 acts, text from the novelle by Prosper Mérimée. The opera is set in Sevilla, main roles are comprised of Don José, a sergeant, and Carmen, a Roma girl. The story eventually ends with the death of the “femme fatale” by the hands of Don José, who wraps her around his finger but also drops her like a hot potato. In Habanera she describes how Roma women have a distinct relationship to the topic of love.
