1004 – The skater’s waltz

The skater’s waltz: Waldteufel composed for the piano in his time, the arrangements for the orchestra were composed by his contemporaries. The waltz describes a couple that frolics under moonlight on the ice rink. During the song a lot of mental cinema is happening; you can hear leaps and beautiful pirouettes from the music.

Information about the composer Émile Waldteufel:
* 09.12.1837 in Straßburg – † 12.02.1915 in Paris

He wrote a lot of chamber music and conducted the Parisian opera balls. His most famous works include The Sirens, Dolores, España and The Skater’s Waltz.
